Daniel Kyzlink composer, arranger and pianist studied composition at the Brno Conservatory and the Janáček Academy of Musical Arts in the Czech Republic. Daniel's work as a pianist in the Brno City Theatre, as well as playing in numerous bands and ensembles, has given him a grass-roots awareness of diverse musical genres from different ends of the musical spectrum. He also composes scene music for theatrical productions, and has produced music for the advertising industry. This varied experience, combined with a personal interest in rock, film and classical music, led to a growing desire to produce a work exploring a fusion of styles. The result is The Rock Mass, a work which not only displays this diversity, but draws on the unique power of each genre to complement the other, displaying Daniel's mastery as a composer. Daniel still lives in Brno, regularly playing in the theatre and elsewhere.
John de Jong is an English musician and writer who grew up with a slightly schizophrenic interest in both English and American folk-blues and traditional English hymns. An acoustic guitar specialist, he has been writing and singing songs since childhood, songs which over the years have expanded into the genres of jazz and rock. Although John's early university education was in Physics and Acoustics (University of Surrey, England), he later gained a first class honours degree in Humanities from the Open University reflecting a growing interest in philosophy, aesthetics and theology-and a corresponding fascination with language and poetry. Now based in Prague, John works as a musician, teacher and writer while also pursuing doctoral studies in theology at King's College London.
