Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf (1739-1799), one of the premier representatives of the Vienna classicism, deserves his contemporary return to the concert stages. His fresh musical language and typical lightness and transluence show why Ditters' chamber work is so popular amnong instrumentalists. Trio C-major and numerous pieces for violin and viola may serve as a proof of the authors' inclination to strings in general.
Zoltán Kodály (1882-1967) gained an international recognitionalready in his lifetime. He was a leading character of the Hungarian new music, alongside of Béla Bartok. Kodaly´s work include the Hary János opera, The Hungarian Psalm cantata, and the Dances from Galanta. In his Serenade Op.12, the listneres are attracted to Kodály's melodic inventiveness and especially to his highly individual use of the traditional folk music. The composition is one of the most difficult pieces for this instrumental line-up.
The final Trio with the Mass Bells represents a work of the composer Pavel Zemek from Brno, the Czech Republic (born 1957). The author is known for his effort to use the maximal sound capacity of instruments, and this recording can prove this. The author dedicated his Trio with the Mass Bells (1997) to the Brno String Trio.
