Collegium Marianum (on period instruments)
Dear listener,
for some time, I have been longing to make a recording that would bring you joy at the time of Advent and Christmas. For this CD, I chose composers and pieces that are close to my heart. I wanted to base its dramaturgy on gradation, contrasts and a deeper message. Besides for the festive baroque arias, I also included some tense pieces bringing about the message of Easter. The simple pastorals are followed by festive and sententious melodies while the whole CD is concluded by an intimate and ethereal part.
In its center, there stands the outstanding Tarquinio Merula's Virgin's Lullaby framed by Zbyněk Matějů composition Ad Te Domine. Both compositions enrich the piece with new colors, they support each other and they are also full of emotions. I wish this CD would bring you at least of portion of the joy this music brings to me and which I very much enjoyed during its recording.
Your Simona Šaturová
