The birth of Kusumam dates back to 2000. The name Kusumam has its origins in Sanskrit and it might be translated into Czech as a flower. The band consists of players who would meet at concerts as players of other bands (today not existing any more) and their mutual friendship finally resulted in desire to found a joint project. Apart from music (light alternative rock which reminds the band Už jsme doma), the important part of the production of Kusumam are unquestionably the lyrics, mainly personal confessions and insights into one's soul. They are so sensitive that an ignorant would not probably understand them until he is broke. Then, however, meanings of words with which he suddenly identifies himself appear from a vague vapor.
"As regards vocals, there is a kind of division of work, which means that we take turns, complement each other and interweave. The basis of a new song is usually an initial motif, which one of us invents or which arises from a spontaneous jamming. When composing new songs, we look for new advances which we did not used before and at the same time we struggle for to invest in the song the maximum of our abilities. This creative process in which we open new worlds and possibilities for ourselves is a great satisfaction for us and simultaneously the main reason why to play and devote oneself to music." The band attempted to record a long-play album flowing like a story, a movie, the ending of which cannot be revealed after the first 10 minutes.
