Barbora Polášková mezzo-soprano
Irina Roměnská piano
The mezzo-soprano Barbora Polášková is one of the most conspicuous talents of the newly emerging generation of singers. She studied at the Conservatoires in Prague and Pilsen and at a number of master courses at home and abroad. At the present time she is working under the guidance of Jaroslava Niederlová. In addition to her musical education she has made a successful study of languages at the Charles University in Prague. She possesses an entirely natural voice which, with her excellent technical command, has astounded audiences by its original timbre and great range. Thanks to her extraordinary musicality and expressive flexibility she is able to perform an unusually broad repertoire, ranging from the High Renaissance to contemporary music. She stands out with her renderings of emotionally intense operatic arias, but is also capable of a very convincing handling of intimate Lieder cycles. Apart from her regular appearances at home she has made a solo tour of Japan and Israel and has been appearing with leading Czech orchestras.
