Jana Boušková harp
Stereo digital recording, Hluboš Castle, Czech Republic, 1998.
No other musical instrument boasts a history as long and rich as the harp; the earliest found specimens date from over 4,000 years ago. No wonder then that harp has earned itself the epithet of "royal" instrument. Here is a CD recital of one ofthe present time's most distinguished harpists: it offers a collection of virtuoso pieces which together display the broad spectrum of the instrument's expression in its entirety, including most particularly its glorious technical and sonic potential. Piano concert-goers are doubtless familiar with Chopin's posthumous Fantaisie-Impromptu; indeed, more than a few prominent keyboard players could envy Miss Boušková the natural ease and elegance with which she endowed her reading of this work, feared by many an interpreter yet ultimately rewarding and fabulously glossy. Jana Boušková (b. 1970) joined the company of élite international harpists soon after completing her education. She has received numerous awards in her home country and worldwide, in the course of a career that has been paved up with appearances in the most prestigious venues of Europe, the U.S.A. and Japan. Jana Boušková's discography is already today more than impressive; recordings of her masterly art have been released by both Czech and international labels.
Harp harmonies, sophisticated and in virtuoso vein.
